Asst. Director, Stewardship & Donor Relations

Overview

The Assistant Director of Stewardship and Donor Relations will be an important part of the team that develops and implements strategic, timely, and meaningful acknowledgement of donors, with activities
ranging from acknowledgement letters to complex annual reports for large endowments or scholarships, to programmatic events. Under the supervision of the Director of Stewardship, the
Assistant Director of Stewardship and Donor Relations will oversee and manage processes and programs, and will assist with implementing the overall stewardship plan across the University.

 

The projected salary range for this position, which represents the full range of anticipated compensation

is:$60,000-$70,000

 

Responsibilities

Assist the advancement stewardship and donor relations team with managing, tracking, and updating the overall stewardship calendar.

 

Partners with the Director, Stewardship and Donor Relations and gift officer colleagues to provide planning and overall programmatic support for events
related to donor stewardship, in conjunction with the University Advancement special events team.

 

Ensures appropriate and timely acknowledgement and correspondence for the university’s donors. Facilitates the central acknowledgement process for vice president acknowledgements.

Produces “In Memory” and “In Honor” correspondence for the director of stewardship and donor relations.

 

Manages the student acknowledgement letter process and serves as liaison to students for updates for biographical information and donor reports.

 

Assists with stewardship plans, financial and impact reports, and production of over 350 annual endowment reports and reports for current use funds. This includes data requests, tracking report progress, formatting, printing, and
mailing reports.

 

Enhances donor relations by maintaining excellent relations with a multitude of internal and external stakeholders to promote partnerships and collaborations in gift reporting, signage and recognition, and engagement activities that
includes events.

 

Works with colleagues to ensure the highest standards of quality and accuracy in information provided to donors in stewardship reports.

 

Supports the stewardship and donor relations team and, by extension, the Division of University Advancement, to achieve strategic and fundraising goals, as well as campaign goals/objectives, through positive and productive
interaction and collaboration with all departmental staff.

 

Manages data for the Stewardship and Donor Relations team, including reporting and metrics, making sure stewardship reports are accurately recorded in the fundraising database.

Qualifications

This position requires a bachelor’s degree and two to four years of professional work experience.

The innate ability to self-start, task-manage, and work independently as well as with a team; and a level of ease with networking and building strong working relationships.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills as well as strong project management skills. Work requires excellent problem-solving and organization skills; the ability to handle multiple projects and consistently meet deadlines; the ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.

 

S/he must be highly organized, task-oriented, and deadline-driven. A can-do attitude, a desire to learn and explore all aspects of stewardship and donor relations. A high regard for confidentiality and sensitivity in dealing with donors and colleagues in a professional environment.

Preferred Qualifications: Development office experience, especially in a higher education or nonprofit environment; experience with Raiser’s Edge or similar database environments; event planning experience.
