Senior Locksmith/Access Control Technician

Overview

Responsible for the oversight of all assessment, development, purchasing, and installation of appropriate electronic and mechanical locking devices and key control systems relating to ingress and egress areas throughout the university. Responsible for the keying, re-coring, repair and maintenance of all electronic and mechanical keyway locking devices and control systems.

 

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:  $28.84 - $30.29/per hour.

Responsibilities

  • Development and oversight of all electronic and mechanically controlled ingress and egress systems throughout the campus
  • Develops method and procedures for implementing systems and participates in developing policies related to such systems.
  • Install, maintain, and repair of all electronic and mechanically controlled locking systems.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of old and new core combinations, instructional material and catalogs.
  • Prepare and maintain required reports, work orders, requisitions and cost estimates of all materials related to the university lock system.
  • Operate code and key cutting machines, grinders, saws, drills, specialized locksmithing tools and a variety of hand tools.
  • Communicate with administrators, maintenance personnel, contractors and others concerning construction, maintenance and repair issues.
  • Responsible for responding to emergency callbacks after hours.
  • Oversight and approval of purchases related to equipment and supplies appropriate for the Locksmith office.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. 
  • Certificate of training from an appropriate trade school. A minimum of five years of progressive experience within the field of locksmithing/access control or related field may be substituted for certificate.
  • Continuing education in the field of electronic and mechanical access control and locksmithing.
  • Knowledge of computer software, preferably Word and/or Excel.
