Overview

The Public Safety Assistant program fosters a reliable system to CUA students to feel safe in their place of residence. Public Safety Assistants support campus police by offering an authoritative security presence within the residence halls and act as a source of information, goodwill and public relations to students, faculty & staff. A Public Safety Assistant II is required to work a minimum of 12 hours per week ,but; no more than 1,000 hours annually as this is a Temporary position. Duty hours may include weekends and holidays.

 

 

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is: $17.95/hr.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a presence at the front entrances of Resident Halls and the Raymond A. DuFour Center to prevent unauthorized persons from entering the building.
  • Control the flow of persons entering the resident halls.

     

  • Notifies the Communications Specialist of any unusual activities or safety issues involving students.

     

  • Work a minimum of 12 hours per week, but: no more than 1,000 hours annually.

     

  • Work on weekends and holidays as needed.

  • Operate a two-way radio to communicate with the Communications Specialist on duty.

     

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Customer service skills, preferably with working with students or young adults.
  • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  •  Ability to deliver stellar customer service and communicate effectively and courteously even under adverse circumstances.

  •  Ability to consistently report to work on time.

  •  Ability to work various shifts, hours, holidays with varying days off yet maintain good attendance and punctuality. 

  •  Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
