Assistant Director, Student Experience & Family Engagement

Overview

The Assistant Director, Student Experience & Family Engagement supports the University’s efforts to build and strengthen relationships with parents and families to encourage philanthropic engagement.

 

Reporting to the Associate Director of Advancement, the Assistant Director manages a portfolio of annual giving–level parent prospects, participates in solicitations, and assists with engagement programs designed to cultivate and steward families.

 

This role provides hands-on training and experience in frontline fundraising, with a focus on qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of parent donors.

 

Travel may be required up to 20-25% of the time.

 

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is: $55,000-65,000.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of parent and family annual giving prospects ($1,000-$49,999), with goals for outreach, personal visits, solicitations, and revenue.
  • Support the qualification of new parent and family prospects through phone outreach, digital engagement, and in-person meetings.
  • Assist in planning and executing parent engagement events, including Welcome Receptions, Family Weekend, and Parents Council activities.
  • Coordinate parent and family communications, including email updates and stewardship materials, in collaboration with Advancement colleagues.
  • Maintain accurate donor contact reports, prospect tracking, and gift documentation using the Advancement database.
  • Partner with colleagues in Annual Giving to support the parent and family solicitation calendar.
  • Provide responsive and helpful communication to parents and families who contact Advancement with questions or requests.
  • 8. Contribute to Advancement-wide initiatives, including campaigns and cross-team fundraising activities.
  • Contribute to the broader goals of University Advancement through cross-functional collaboration and participation in University-wide initiatives, including campaigns.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3 years of professional experience, preferably in fundraising, sales, customer relations, or higher
    education.
  • Internship or volunteer experience in development will be considered.
  • Experience working in a higher education fundraising office is preferred, experience with event planning or stewardship preferred.
  • Experience within Raisers Edge or another database CRM is preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with fundraising databases preferred.
  • Possession of current and valid U.S. driver’s license appropriate to the type of university vehicle and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Driving Record (MVR) as stipulated in the Vehicle Guidelines and Procedures Manual administered through the office of Environmental Health and Safety.
  • Excellent communications, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Interest in learning fundraising best practices and donor engagement strategies.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated customer service orientation.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • The ability to drive a vehicle (campus or non-campus) on behalf of university business.
  • Annual clearance of MVR check through the Office of Environmental Health and Safety.
