Monitors Front desk of OIS; answers and screens calls, greets and assists students, scholars, staff, faculty and other visitors. Answers questions providing basic immigration advice as well as serving as a designated school official and an alternate responsible officer for both F and J programs. Provides overall administrative support to all of OIS’ functions by managing overall record keeping, office inventory, office’s calendar, appointments and supporting the Advisors both in their immigration and programming work. Serves as a Designated School Official (DSO) and as an Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) for SEVIS.
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is: $45,000- $50,000
Minimum 1-3 years directly related work experience (preferably in international student advising or in higher education).
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Must be a Permanent Resident or U.S. Citizen in order to be eligible to become certified as both Designated School Official (DSO) and as an Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) for SEVIS.
Thorough knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Working knowledge of PeopleSoft applications.
Preferably proficient in SEVIS to be a Designated School Official (F program) & Alternate Responsible Office (J Program)
Website management skills preferred.
Ability to be patient, open minded and a good listener with cross-cultural communication skills.
Ability to interact tactfully and skillfully with all levels of University employees and students, as well as all levels of business & professional contacts outside of the University.
Ability to handle difficult situations with tact, diplomacy and strict confidentiality when required.
Knowledge of international experience and a second language preferred.
