The Office of the Senior Vice Provost for Research at The Catholic University of America oversees research, discovery and innovation across the campus, in all twelve schools, and in multiple interdisciplinary centers and programs. This includes building internal research oversight and support infrastructure and external networking with other universities, foundations, philanthropic groups and government agencies. This role will serves as the Executive Assistant to the Senior Vice Provost for Research (SVPR).
This role performs a variety of complex and confidential administrative support duties under the direction of the Senior Vice Provost for Research. this role provides multi-faceted administrative support and assistance to ensure effective use of SVPR’s time and productive interactions with leadership, faculty, staff and the public. Manages the SVPR’s calendar, complex travel arrangements, meeting preparations, follow up tasks. Conducts information gathering on behalf of the Senior Vice Provost for Research and prepares summaries and reports. Develops positive relationships at all levels of the organization. Uses discretion, judgment, and knowledge of the organization to facilitate SVPR’s activities and maintain confidentiality. Coordinates research space requests, moves, and outfitting of research spaces. Serves as the project coordinator of the office and assists in acquisition of external funding to support research throughout the university.
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is: $71,000 to $75,000
● A Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
● Two or more (2+) years of related experience including at least 1 year of experience as an executive assistant or project coordinator.
● Effective communication skills.
● Familiarity with a range of office equipment.
● Requires a thorough working knowledge of computer applications including Google Workspace, MS Office, Access, Excel and PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat (2+years)
● Working knowledge of appropriate social network online tools to enhance national reputation of research at The Catholic University of America
● Knowledge and commitment to the mission of The Catholic University of America
● Working knowledge of program management tools
● Must have working knowledge of PeopleSoft applications or have the willingness and ability to learn within three (3) months of hire.
● Must have the ability to interact tactfully and skillfully with all levels of university employees as well as all levels of business contacts outside the university.
● Must have the ability to handle difficult and/or sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy.
● Must be able to exercise the knowledge and judgment to maintain confidentiality.
● Must have experience working with budgets, spreadsheets, and coordinating meetings
● Must have experience working with electronic documents and online research-related search engines
Knowledge of Cascade (website updating) and Salesforce/TargetX preferred.
