Ford Scholars Program Field Liaison

Overview

The Field Liaison will coordinate the activities of the Ford Foundation Scholars program.

 

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is: $75,000.

Responsibilities

  • Teach concurring Field Seminar courses across both placements for scholars in the cohort that will prepare students to integrate skills from academic courses with practice experience in the field.
  • Serve as a Field Liaison for each of the scholars in the cohort. Liaison communicates between the Student, their Field Placement Site/Field Instructor, and the NCSSS Field Office.
  • Provides mentorship and individual supervision with the cohort of Ford Scholars providing support and mentorship throughout their field placement and time in the program.
  • Organize an NCSSS-sponsored conference focused on homelessness to engage agencies, stakeholders, practitioners, and scholars who work in the area of homelessness in DC. Manage the development, coordination, and outreach of the event.
  • Develop a specialized elective course on Social Work with the Homeless for the scholar's cohort and other students interested in homelessness.
  • Advance NCSSS partnerships and relationships with agencies in the DMV that provide services to the homeless. Work closely with the Office of Field Education to increase the number of agency sites and partners.
  • Strengthen relationships with Campus Partners, specifically the Campus Ministry Office and Assistant Campus Minister for Service & Justice, to increase opportunities to work with the homeless between NCSSS as well as the Ford Foundation Cohort
  • Support the Director of Field Education in ongoing recruitment to the Ford Foundation Scholars Program, specifically in the marketing and selection of future cohorts and increasing the pool of agency partners.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work from a CSWE-accredited program.
  • Minimum of 2 years full-time post-MSW experience in professional social work practice.
  • Prior experience working with the homeless and working in agencies that provide clinical services to the homeless is required.
  • Familiarity with social work agencies in the Metropolitan DC area is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, databases, web design platforms.
  • Must have comfort with public speaking.
  • Must have knowledge and skills needed to develop and offer training for social work professionals.
  • Ability to plan workload and supervise staff in complex, busy office.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Must be service-oriented and be able to maintain ongoing contact with students, faculty and community agency personnel.
