Simulation Coordinator

Overview

The Clinical Simulation section provides administration, operational and technical support for the School of Nursing faculty for all simulation operations, including preparation, maintenance and repair of computerized manikins (software and hardware), task trainers and related multimedia peripherals. Department leadership strategically revises program offerings to reflect current simulation practice, including modification and/or acquisition of new technology and its application to the student and faculty simulation experience.

 

The incumbent holds a minimum of a bachelor’s. The Simulation Coordinator assists the Simulation Director in coordinating, developing, implementing, and evaluating simulation learning experiences for all nursing programs. This person takes primary responsibility for the skills areas of the simulation center. Organizes training sessions and trains staff and faculty on the use of laboratory equipment in cooperation with the Simulation staff. Recruits, trains, and schedules standardized patients (SPs); manages payment of scheduled SPs; and maintains a pool of SPs with demographics that match case scenarios.

 

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is: $79,500 to $84,000

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the scheduling for undergraduate and graduate nursing students in all areas of the Simulation Center in cooperation with the nursing faculty and the Director of Simulation
  • Schedules and proctors Open Lab sessions throughout the semester
  • Manages the purchasing of all equipment and supplies for the Simulation Center in cooperation with the Director of Simulation, the Administrative Assistant and the Dean, Conway School of Nursing
  • Works with the Simulation Technician to maintain and update all computerized equipment
  • Conducts annual inventory of supplies
  • Restocks supplies in all areas of the Simulation Center
  • Prepares equipment for each learning activity for the nursing students in cooperation with the nursing faculty
  • Assists in the set-up and take down of simulators, computers, and equipment needed for simulation learning activities in cooperation with the faculty and the Simulation staff
  • Performs basic equipment repair, or seeks out professional repair services

Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree is required, MSN and/or Doctoral Degree in nursing desirable. Three years as a clinical nurse; in lieu of experience as an RN will accept three years of simulation experience; experience working in a simulation center. Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Blackboard, Word, Excel, and Zoom. Able to navigate Cardinal Station, knowledge of key referrals for upper-level nursing students. Able to travel to external agencies, healthcare facilities, etc. in the mid-Atlantic region for partnering opportunities and undergraduate program business.
