Financial Aid Analyst

Overview

Under general supervision, assists with planning, coordination, implementation and delivery of student loan services and programs; leads and performs specialized technical duties related to the distribution and reconciliation of federal and commercial loans; and assists in the overall accounts payable duties for the Enrollment Management Division and performs related duties as assigned. This position is located on campus in Washington, DC. 

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and participates in the day-to-day operation and service delivery of all federal and commercial loans; and resolves complex technical issues encountered by staff; responds to complex inquiries from students and staff regarding loan distribution and reconciliation.

     

  • Coordinates and manages Direct Loan reconciliation.

     

  • Certifies, manages and reconciles all commercial loans.

     

  • Processes and reviews requisitions and purchase order transactions for the Enrollment Management Division ensuring compliance with the university’s accounts payable policies and procedures.

     

  • Works closely with the university Finance Office to initiate the drawdown of financial aid funds; trouble shoot conflicting information of commercial loans and return of funds to lenders.

     

  • Assist with reconciliation of the Federal Work Study program, working closely with Payroll and Career and Academic Services.

     

  • Runs SQL queries and reports, audits files and performs quality assurance of data and program operations; as it pertains to all federal and commercial loans and Federal Work Study program.

     

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in education, finance, accounting, business administration or another related field, and three (3) or more years of college financial aid experience.

 

Working knowledge of Title IV regulations and federal financial aid needs analysis is strongly preferred. Working knowledge of COD and NSLDS is preferred. Experience with public speaking to include presentations is preferred.
